On the face of this it looks to be quite an altruistic act . What bothers me is that by giving antibiotics away freely , won't there be a larger percentage of the population that will become resistant to the antibiotics ? Wouldn't you then have more people taking antibiotics even when they have a VIRAL infection as opposed to a BACTERIAL infection , which is for what the antibiotics should be used . After they become resistant , even the most minor sickness could become life threatening.

It just shows how inexpensive drugs are to make. (Like generic asprins.) The $4 charged by Walmart is really only a handling fee. My wife gets one perscription in a factory filled container so the local pharmacist doesn't have to even touch or count the pills. That is a money saver. The big cost of new drugs is in research, promotion (cheerleaders are not cheap) and a bunch for the lawyers who will be suing soon. We need to count our blessings. When they get generic Viagra, WATCH OUT!
