KJRH.com
It may sound too good to be true... but a Tulsa pharmacy is offering free antibiotics.
The program is available at the GenScripts Pharmacy in Midtown Tulsa.
It covers six of the most commonly prescribed generic antibiotics.
You don't need insurance... and there is no fee or co-pay.
Each prescription is free for up to a 10-day supply

Introducing
GenScripts Pharmacy
The new Tulsa prescription shop exclusively serving the self-pay patient.

Frugal Pharmacy
GenScripts has a uniform, low pricing structure specifically developed to
cater to the needs of the self-pay patient.

On the face of this it looks to be quite an altruistic act . What bothers me is that by giving antibiotics away freely , won't there be a larger percentage of the population that will become resistant to the antibiotics ? Wouldn't you then have more people taking antibiotics even when they have a VIRAL infection as opposed to a BACTERIAL infection , which is for what the antibiotics should be used . After they become resistant , even the most minor sickness could become life threatening.

I think you would still need a prescription.

It just shows how inexpensive drugs are to make. (Like generic asprins.) The $4 charged by Walmart is really only a handling fee. My wife gets one perscription in a factory filled container so the local pharmacist doesn't have to even touch or count the pills. That is a money saver. The big cost of new drugs is in research, promotion (cheerleaders are not cheap) and a bunch for the lawyers who will be suing soon. We need to count our blessings. When they get generic Viagra, WATCH OUT!
