Was recently dismayed to spot a giant sized water moccasin snake swimming beside me in the Pedernales river. Disturbed my peaceful gratitude . Wouldn't be so freaked out but I read that these snakes can be quite aggressive, even if not disturbed. Friend told me about using electric shock for treatment (from my car) if I'm ever bitten (not sure I'll swim there again) ... but this article verifies friend's suggestion:
