Globally listed exchange traded funds garnered their second largest amount of capital flows on record over the course of 2022. In total, worldwide ETFs cumulatively amassed $856.16B worth of investor capital. This was down from 2021, which ranks as the annual record holder, when the industry saw inflows of $1.2T.

The tally for 2022 was helped by $69.37B added in December, which marked the segment’s 43rd consecutive month of net cash inflows.

Among the more than 2,000 exchange traded funds available, the top ten funds that absorbed the most inflows together on the year took in $180.99B. The group included benchmark tracking S&P 500 (SP500) names, a dividend giant and a couple of fixed income ETFs.
