In the best sellling book Men are from Mars, Women from Venus, the basic premise is that men and women think differently. Basically Men (the martians) solve problems by brooding silently, watching football, tinkering in the shop, being alone. Women (the Venetians) on the other hand solve problems by chatting. THey take walks with friends, have tea, stroll with the baby carriages. The example he gives is 2 old ladies in Miami Beach who meet on a park bench and complain about their kids, their health, etc. and finally say, "It was nice talking to you, see you tomorrow". One of the key issues is that the women expect nothing. They are helped by the act of chatting. Men, on the other hand, think that if someone is talking to them they expect something in return. So if the wife says "I've had a hard day", the man feels obligated to say something, like "why don't you.... " and the woman feels offended because all she wanted to do was vent, or "share". Hence one of the causes of conflict. But I digress... Men (traders like us) solve problems by brooding silently over charts. We stare at the charts. We sit alone, and ultimately solve our ideas. But our "feminine" side seems to need the discourse method as well, so we flock to trading sites, like TTHQ, where by chatting we further solve more issues. So we have the best of both worlds. No real point here, just an interesting observation. I may not directly get a trading idea from TTHQ but I feel strongly that I need to read and share ideas. Somehow those ideas meld with the silent brooding I've done on my charts and powerful and profitable trading strategies ensue. Through TTHQ I'm in touch with my Martian and Venetian sides and emerge a trader. So Men are from Mars, Women from Venus and Traders from TTHQ? mm

Without making too many generalities, I think of a loin pride.
The male seems content to be very solitary, letting out an earth rattling roar from time to time, just in case any rival males get too close. His main concern is food, sex and sleep.
Meanwhile the females go shopping (hunting) together in a very socialized commune, being more intimately concerned with their family.

Then again, some of us traders ARE women. ;) So, what -- I need to brood more?

Here's a word of wisdom for you gals out there. When you ask a man, "What are you thinking?" and he says "Nothing" That's what he was thinking.
