"Major averages rebound after biggest losses since December" ... What are you calling those, Mark ? Breathless alerts ? Oh the hope. Shorting rallies is the game ....

Mortgage apps were down 24% this morning.... thats all that matters and what TOL said. That they were giving 4% mortgages and still no buyers.

All those fantasies about housing getting more affordable are just fantasies. No one is buying in the world of rocketing unemployment.

And China exports down 18% in January. And Russia is facing a new debt crisis.

Its all just a part of the big picture.

In reality no one can resolve this mess. No Barney, Not TG, not anyone.

Sell the hope.

How about it the top 100 wealthiest men in the world got all generous on us and decided to bail everyone out? That might temporarily bail us out until our bad habits come back?

Oprah tried that with a bunch of people who needed help. She got them homes, cars, out of debt, etc. Now they are right back where they started. Just giving needy people money usually only enables the behavior which got them where they are. Behaviors need to change. As one wisely said: "You will always have the poor with you."
