A new milestone in global finance:

"The demand to prevent a selective default has been removed," he told the Dutch parliament. The chairman of the 17-nation currency area's finance ministers, Jean-Claude Juncker, also told reporters: "You can never exclude such a possibility, but everything should be done to avoid it."

It is smarter not to throw more good money against the bad money, so it seems...

I caught a news blurb last night relating to the mortgage crisis here in the US. There is currently a program that if you are having trouble meeting your monthly payment obligations and are behind, you would be eligible for a $50,000 grant that you would NOT be required to pay back, provided you NEVER fall behind on your payments at any point in the future.

Now when the chicks are free, you'll know we've reached nirvana.

Q:What use is default insurance if there's a default and no payouts? A: Good question. It may lead to some soul-searching in the CDS market and some pissed off people.
The system wasn't designed so that most people could beat it.

It's funny how you and I could never manage our finances like governments manage theirs.

O yeah. I forgot. They are using our money for their fun.
