I've seen these from time to time...but have been unable to determine rules / consistency in behavior.

Here we zoom in to 8 months. I have approximated the large circle with a series of short, broken lines.
Could the last five days be an (odd looking) bull flag... with major, "jump the creek" resistance just above??? YiKes! (25% short, TZA, FAZ)

The way VIX broke today.... could be a head fake....tomorrow we either jump that creek on a melt-up or look out below, my two sided FF!
