I find this article interesting. While admitting that we are seeing colder temperatures recently, they note that over the past few decades the trend has been towards climate warming.
There is NO mention of the fact that those decades also saw record solar activity, nor the fact that the current solar cycle #24 is one of the weakest since cycle #20 ended in the 1970's (When the same people were warning us about global cooling.)

Is Cold Now Winning Over Warmth?
Climate scientists are tracking the number of record lows outpacing highs because it’s become unusual in recent years.
With that in mind, this week’s cold snap, along with the surprising number of record lows this year and last year, could someday look like a tiny downward blip on a steadily rising temperature chart.
The gap between highs and lows has been growing since the 1970s.
Some projections indicate that this ratio of record highs to record lows could reach 20:1 by mid-century, and a staggering 50:1 by 2100.
In fact the late 1960's and early 1970s were during a very inactive solar cycle solar #20, followed by the most active solar cycles ON RECORD!
And currently solar cycle #24 is extremely inactive, and we are again seeing cooler temperatures.
