I have to admit I am really rusty at Excel charting, but I managed to obtain free Dow historical data back to 1896 from a Polish web site, so I had to share my initial effort. This is the site BTW:

https://stooq.com/q/?s=%5edji

I grabbed a chunk of MACD data from each period mainly to see what percentage displacement was at the low points, and the general shape of the MACD move during the initial drops. You can see this in the below charts. Percentage-wise here is how the bottom displacements worked out:

1929/11/13 : MACD / index = -33.05 / 198.7 = -16.6%

2020/03/23 : MACD / index = -2305.89 / 18591.93 = -12.4%

So 1929 was similar but more displaced.

interesting this move up is stronger than 1929

fwiw i think we are in an impulse wave up that will take us on the next leg to 3800 area on the spx

which i think the 2020 chart is supporting

feeling mellow with the yellow metal
