Don, since the top in January of this year, peaks in the Bull-Bear spread near these levels have signalled short term, local market tops with the DJIA turning back down pretty quickly.  If October was "the" low or maybe even just a very important low, it is possible that the character of this sentiment indicator has changed, but only time will tell.  

 

Something strange is definitely going on with this survey given the anemic bullish values seen late last year at all-time highs in the DJIA.  This was before the war, with the pandemic clearly waning and a still accommodative Fed.  AAII certainly is surveying a generally pessimistic bunch of folks.

being bearish is easy ....anybody can do  it 675 ono   and here the dow is now much closer to the ath then the bull market correction low......few if any made it to the top of K2   and the stock market is no exception
