Why should economy slow down with $1.61 Trillion excess spending over revenues, every year?

Let the party continue. Band is still playing and bar is open!

If I maxxed out all my 6 credit cards, I can impress my neighbors as well.

But soon there will be a U-Haul truck in my drive way purebs.gif

It is definitely a split economy.  Those with debt are struggling.  Those with CC debt that don't pay them off every month is 1/2 the population and because of interest rate hikes they are struggling.    For the other half of the population they are doing quite well and can afford to invest in the market.

Unemployment rate unexpectedly rises...

Unemployment rate unexpectedly rose to 3.8% in August as payrolls increased by 187,000

The Unemployment rate is a bit misleading because if no one has a job, but no one is looking for a job, the UR is ZERO!!!

It was historically low after free money was handed out during covid, plus many sold their homes, pocketed cash then bought another or refinanced at very low rates.

Free money takes the pressure off to look for a job.

Now reality is hitting the fan.

Then there's this:

NOT AGAIN! MASK UP NEW YORK

New Yorkers told to mask up for Labor Day as new Covid variant sparks superspread fears EXCLUSIVE: Health experts have warned Americans to be cautious this Labor Day Weekend as a new Covid variant is sparking concerns and has the potential to cause an explosion in cases.

Nursing Homes Slammed by Covid Surge...

In the last week, one out of every four nursing homes or assisted living facilities in New Jersey has reported a COVID outbreak, according to official state data. Among the 615 nursing homes and assisted living facilities in the state, there are currently 158 active outbreaks affecting 534 employees and more than 1,300 residents.

According to reports, Pirola has been identified through wastewater samples in Switzerland, Thailand, and the United States.

The testing indicates the presence of the variant in four separate continents. Additionally, Pirola's emergence coincides with the arrival of another variant known as Eris, scientifically known as EG.5.1. These developments underscore the ongoing challenges posed by evolving COVID-19 variants.

tested positive on Friday

My daughter and her husband got it weeks ago and were down for only 2 days.

They didn't take the Covid pills. Daughter wasn't as sick as her husband.

Hope that's as bad as COVID gets this time.
