Should get that SPX ATH today & I could be holding largest SHORT US position since about a year ago. ALSO, largest CHINA/HSI LONG POSITION, ever.

"Futures trading suggests the S&P 500 could set a new record, with chip stocks and other tech names rallying premarket. Treasury yields remain elevated. And investors are awaiting a batch of regional-bank earnings that will offer a further health update on the sector."

So bad in CHINA that:
BREAKING:

*CHINA'S LARGEST STOCK BROKERAGE BANS SHORT SELLING FOR ALL INDIVIDUAL INVESTORS

Should get that SPX ATH today & I could be holding largest SHORT US position since about a year ago. ALSO, largest CHINA/HSI LONG POSITION, ever.

"Chinese and British woes
Despite all the renewed market optimism elsewhere on Friday, renewed stocks losses in Shanghai and Hong Kong showed China continues to be an outlier.

Brokerage Citic Securities has suspended short selling for some clients in mainland markets amid a deepening rout in the nations stocks, Bloomberg reported.

But China has also instructed heavily indebted local governments to delay or halt some state-funded infrastructure projects, according to Reuters sources, as Beijing struggles to contain debt risks even as it tries to stimulate the economy.

And in a wild ride for UK government bond traders this week, Britain reported an unexpectedly large slide in retail sales for December - dragging down the whole retail picture for the year and painting a confusing picture for Bank of England watchers after the early week's inflation surprise. Sterling and gilt yields fell back.

Key developments that should provide more direction to U.S. markets later on Friday:
U.S. Corporate earnings: State Street, Huntington Bancshares, Travelers, Comerica, Fifth Third, Regions Financial, Schlumberger
U.S. Dec existing home sales, University of Michigan's Jan consumer survey, Nov TIC data on overseas Treasuries holdings
San Francisco Federal Reserve President Mary Daly, Fed Vice Chair for Supervision Michael Barr speak
World Economic Forum in Davos, final day - IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva, ECB President Christine Lagarde and German Finance Minister Christian Lindner among speakers
U.S. Treasury auctions 10-year inflation-protected securities, 4-week bills"

I'm back for expiration, been a great week of trading with 76 ES points and 483 points ndx but all unofficial as I didn't report them.  The other day drove between from Orange beach Alamama back up to Memphis after they had a rare massive dump of snow!!  Those people do not know how to drive on unplowed highways lol!!  While driving back up from Spokane was also fun trading with shorts and then the final pop into the close with coming expiration trades starting this morning, I have an average short on the ES of 4800 and ndx 17100.  I'll see about adding after the cash open don't mind holding over the weekend....Not surprising were seeing another pop into expiration this morning but has been cooled a little with Fed speak and interest rates continuing to back up.  With earnings reports really kicking up next week in this incredibly overvalued market I'm sure the volatility is going to return even if we hold up here going into the close.  Call options continue to be expensive and the spread between cash and futures also remains way to high so is going to be interesting....

It is so interesting how the market is completely ignoring the rise in bond yields, obviously bond traders are not thinking there will be rate cuts any time soon lol!!  Besides that these cal prices are once again insane with bullishness being rampant.  So far lifted my average ES short to 4810 and looking at the NDX.....
