The Russell 2000 (and 3000) began trading on January 2, 1984...the best historic price and volume data is found with Yahoo, but this only goes back to September 9, 1987.
My data, which includes breadth ratios and McClellan data, goes back to January 2, 2004.
IWM was launched on May 22, 2000 and Yahoo has all of the price and volume data available on that one.
