looks likes Trumps unpredictability which worked for him in some circumstances is becoming detrimental to the market.
this is creating a risk off environment with all the back and forth instability
In addition his justifications defy logic as in this example :
He used an emergency act to justify his tariffs based on Fentanyl which is well and good until we probe into the details and ask a few questions
1) What percent of Fentanyl was brought in by US citizens ? ....... turns out it was 86 %
2) Where was it brought in ? ....... turns out the 90 percent of the time its at a legal border crossing by a US citizen
3) Now for the 64,000 dollar question ,,,,, how many people arrested out in the fields had Fentanyl? ,,,,,,, not many at all .... maybe one out of thousands
4) What about all the new soldiers Trump got in the deal? ,,,,well check for yourself but it's almost the same as what Biden negotiated already!
Now if we look at Canada it borders on the ridiculous ..... they have agreed to spend billions to please Trump when the odds of finding a Canadian person running Fentanyl across a Canadian field is close to zero.
Folks are picking up on this now and questioning Trumps motives which will not bode well for the market. Particularly when you consider he insinuated that Canada must be absorbed by the United States and would be if left to his devices .. this is breeding anti US sentiment around the world.
