Texas does well when the oil industry does well. Half their employment gains for last year were due to oil and related machinery and service industries.

I did not know Texas had high property taxes. But I do know that California
has high property taxes, and so does Illinois (Chicago Metro), having lived in both states.

In fact California has high everything. They have state income tax, sales tax, high prop tax,
high motor vehicle tax, AND high house prices!

R U kidding? I paid about 3.5% on value/yr in Houston. Just moved to SA. About the same.
