I have a similar number for OEX... 606..It is just a trend line seen on 4 year weekly... I am sure you know it.
But I have no intention of probing it unless my holy grail flash the buy...

mdwllc, I like that time frame also for a turn, but I have Dow ~ 11,600 at the turn, and that's a lot in a short time, yikes.

I don't think people understand that there is a major housing slow down induced by the mortgage sector problems on top of the ongoing problems of the housing oversupply and high rates. The consumer spending should plunge next. I think currently there is an exponential deterioration in the markets, yet the USD will not bounce.
The Fed is truly stuck until USD bounces strongly, imho. I don't think people understand this (yet), any talk about a rate cut will immediately trigger a USD crash and then a bond and finally a stock market crash. Instead, we are going to get a stock market correction or crash only and at least have a chance to finance the economy with a stable currency...
How GS turned the record profits? Apparently, they didn't own anything directly in the subprime mortgage biz, but the fixed income problems are just spreading...
