"As to the medical "facts" .... well most of us can decide their "value" for for ourselves"

Well, this is the point, right? No, most of us cannot decide the "value for ourselves".

A rocket scientist knows rockets. Or do you think you could do a better job?

An architect after decades of training can design a sky scraper that won't fall down. Do you really feel you could design one better?

A neurosurgeon after 20 years of training might be qualified enough to disect a malignant tumor away from a cranial nerve. Do you feel, that after watching a self-help video you could do it too?

Medicine, steeped in science, is a complex discipline that strives for truth and accuracy. Intelligent people understand that and ask for facts, truth and help with the very real serious issues of lfe and death.

It is not against the law to self-medicate, or destroy your life with pseudo science. It is, on the other hand, unethical, to convine others that you are right, when you are not, especially if they assume that you know what you are talking about.

Gee Mister "You and YOU ALONE are correct" ... you sound so angry. Isn't that bad for your health? ;) (p.s. - even top physicians disagree amongst themselves, so your argument makes absolutely NO sense)

"you sound so angry"

Muppet, you seem to have confused anger with rational thought. There is no anger in my explanation.

Your tagline, in megabold, colored letters, on the other hand would seem to suggest an enormous amount of animosity towards the medical profession. I don't know you, of course, but I have to believe you are smart enough to know that modern medicine has put the entire world on an ever increasingly safe and healthy playing field, with vast reductions in mortality and morbidity. And we're just getting started with tremendous progress and exciting breakthroughs. Our children and our children's children will inherit a beautiful world with a marked reduction in disease and suffering.

You really should hook up with Calm Cookie, by the way. You two seem to share tremendous, narrow minded hatred of doctors, science and medicine. I think the two of you would get on smashingly!

Love,

I really do think this entire thread should be junked... There's nothing useful going on here. Just arguments. Course, if you think off-topic arguments are a healthy thing for the site Then let's just open the board up to politics and religion too. Let's take a vote.

Religion is faith based and solely depends on opinions. Politics likewise. Medicine is based on science, and rigorous testing. Like good technical analysis. I am happy to share what is known, and help separate the science from the wishful thinking. It's my profession. Its what I do, its what I'm good at and its what I'm proud of. I'm more than happy to answer questions about scientific facts. mm

"Clean Peanuts".... Let's see now, how does the naked eye tell a clean peanut from a dirty one? Evidently the peanut butter makers can't even tell...

Virtually all sources of commercial peanut butter contain minute quantities of aflatoxin,[1] but it is usually far below the US Food and Drug Administration's (FDA) recommended safe level.

So go ahead just LOAD UP on peanut butter, after all the FDA says it's safe, and we all know their track record...

Don't you find it interesting that NO ONE ever asks you? They seem more than willing to let you keep your scientific "facts."

I'm so sorry. Do I know you? Are you that pissed off at me? Have I hurt you? Have I hurt someone you know and love? Am I missing something here? How about "you win". Will that work? What are you, about 8 years old? all the best mm

Sure seems to me there's a lot of sick people out there who could better use your talents. I'm not sure how noble a cause it is to try and convert the unwilling and uninterested. Somehow I also don't think there's any real harm being done by exchanging ideas on alternative medicine. How's business? I would think with all the really sick people out there who could use your expertise you wouldn't have time for this trivia.... You also seem to be obsessed that somehow we alternative medicine enthusiasts are threatened by your superior science. On the other hand is it you that has a persecution complex?
