My wife and I have a place in Ohio - the other end of the state from where Mark is - and also a loft southwest of Atlanta, GA. For the long run, really into retirement (she's 45, I'm 48), we'd like to get a fairly big place where people could stay for visits, probably splitting the difference by geography and climate, North Carolina maybe.
I don't think NC has been a super-heated real estate market, most places, but it's been pretty darn good, and for now I'm very content to wait and see what happens. Maybe I'm wrong and we're putting in a bottom but I bet that better buys are in the future.

I think that we won't see sales pick up until we see some prices fall in a meaningful way. So far, a lot of sellers are in denial.
