It's been so warm that I planted my tomatoes 2 or 3 weeks ago.
They are really doing well.
This warm weather has been to their liking.

But my dad always said: "Wait until after Easter to plant tomatoes.
We always get a freeze around Easter."

Well... It has been a warm March. It WAS 88 degrees Monday!
And my dad didn't know about global warming. So I planted...

23 degrees forecast for Easter morning! Near a RECORD LOW!

I should have listened to my dad... Again.

Yup. I remember one time in the 80's, we had a nice warm spring, then around April 12 (I think), after all the trees had really leafed out, we got a 6" snowfall. After that we got huge "tree branch fall". About half the town lost power or phone or cable. There's almost always one last cold snap in April. Out here, we don't plant tomatoes until Mothers Day. Similarly, I NEVER seal up the house for winter before Halloween. There's almost always a warm spell within a week. I hope you dug those maters back up, Roger and brought them in. :o Mark

Here in Maine we take a very Zen approach. We don't expect Sunshine. We don't expect Spring. In fact, most folks are dumbfounded or at the least annoyed by a sunny, warm day, because that creates confusion and guilt. "You mean I have to turn off the TV and go outside for a walk?" 70,000 still without power from yesterday's storm, so many trees down. mm
