Yes....The IMF/Spanish/French/Dutch central banks have all been active in selling some of their GOLD reserves lately at around these heady highs of $700. Ahh!...But what about the ol' UK and it's gold......Well the idiot in charge of 'OUR' gold reserves had the bright idea of selling a big big chunk of it a few years ago for the princely sum of wait for it>>>$250 right at the bottom of the market just as this big run-up started.....and he still hasn't given a decent explanation as to WHY????? Now if that's not bad enough.....Guess what happened to this grand master of trading wizardry.....Bet you're thinking Fired,Jailed or Strung up by his goolies.....Well you'd be wrong. He's just been promoted to Prime Minister of the UK after Phony Tony Blur resigned.....He goes by the name of Gordon Brown......But over here we know him better as Gordon Clown. Only in the UK,i tell ya..Ya couldn't make it up.....   Regards.V

I don't think any country or political party has a monopoly on incompetent politicians... Good to see you back Vermeer (and Dev too), I enjoy your posts.

Speaking of bad traders.....How's this for four months of trading....and this wasn't from a fund.

In 1999, veteran Alabama attorney L.S. Vines wrapped up his 34-year law career with a bang, winning a five-year class action suit that netted him $18.5 million in 1999 and $17 million in 2000. After retiring in early 2000, Vine became a trader. In a monument to poor timing however, he got in just as tech stocks crashed. He incurred $25 million in losses in his first four months, at which point he ceased trading.

Gold obviously not important at a bottom. A barbarous relic.
