I couldn't resist this one on a slow Holiday weekend.

The parent company of the Carl's Jr. and Hardee's fast food chains sued rival Jack In The Box Inc. on Friday to stop TV ads that it says suggest Carl's Jr. and Hardee's use cow anus to make Angus beef hamburgers.

CKE Restaurants Inc. sued Jack In The Box in U.S. District Court on Friday over an ad in which executives laugh hysterically at the word "Angus" and another where the chain's pingpong ball-headed mascot, Jack, is asked to point to a diagram of a cow and show where Angus meat comes from.

Enjoy your cookout.

CKE may not make better hamburgers but they sure know how to make fun of their competition AND get tons of free publicity. It's funny and now the victimized get to shoot themselves in the foot. That said, I do remember a little problem at Jack in the Box, too. Glass houses and stones... It'll be fun to watch them duke it out. Like Alien vs. Predator...

Consider the REMOTE possibility that humans shouldn't be eating at either one of these places ... but that is too radical to contemplate. ;)

I think hamburger joints get a bad rap.
Often the food is as good or better than the stuff kids are fed at home.
And even if there are no chips, pop tarts and sodas at home, an occasional foray into McDees' won't kill you.

I've eaten at all of 'em. And I'm going to die. It's a fact.
Balance and moderation will eventually kill me, but not as quickly as the "Vegan baby":
May 10th story:
“Vegan couple gets life in prison for death of malnourished baby son, fed a diet of soy milk and apple juice”

As for eating stinky cow parts, PLEASE! I have friends who eat chitlins!
You haven't smelled anything bad until you go into a house where the chitlins are a cookin'.

News
"Miss Hattie was most known, perhaps, for her homemade chitlins, spare ribs and greens."
She died at 77.
Nope. Not from eating chitlins. Or spare ribs.
She was murdered.

PS: Shazamm! Google's Smarts ads (in the banner above) have 2 ads for Carl's Jr. and this handy PDF showing the dietary info on many fast food chains as well as tips to improve dietary quality.

Rodger ... I agree with you. The notion that being a vegetarian is somehow "healthier" has NO scientific support. And moderation is certainly better than super sizing ... no question that U.S. serving sizes have gotten out of hand. And I have nothing against eating meat ... nothing at all ... just not fond of the cardboard version found at most fast food restaurants. I also DO NOT trust the level of cleanliness or intelligence of the average fast food preparer. Did you see the movie where the fast food flipper spits on top of the hamburger because the customer was rude to him? ... not so hard to imagine. I also worked in a 5 star restaurant while at University, and noticed, on more than one occasion, some unappealing events (like picking up a filet mignon steak from the floor and putting it back on a customers plate ... chef thought no one was looking). Also worked in a donut shop, as a kid, where the owner stirred in a completely MOLDLY crust on top of an old filling tub ... rather than throw it away. MMMMMMMM yummy moldy donuts! Hey, I don't want to slam all restaurants ... many are probably fine, but I'd rather make my own food ... at home, thanks. Not practical for everyone, but such is life. Bon appetit, C.C.
