My wife just got snagged by this predatory billing practice. It should be illegal in my opinion. I doesn't look like you can fight it once you've hit the accept key, if they've made it clear somewhere in the website. ANY BUSINESS that resorts to this practice is making it obvious that they cannot survive upon the merit of their products. Read everything before hitting that key!!!

Dispute those charges if you have a lick of trouble getting them backed out by merchant. That will end the practice.

Contesting it will not work if you agree to the terms (unwittingly or not). All federal and state laws (except Michigan) permit this. Read the links I posted. This practice is allowed to flourish and grow in the U.S. (but outlawed in Canada) thanks to the lobbying resources of the magazine industry (think Big Media, so don't expect this to ever, ever change). Don't pay up, and you can and will certainly be pursued by collectors and have your credit record tarnished.
Moral: ALWAYS READ THE TERMS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here is what was not read in my wife's case...

Dispute it anyway. The CC company will simply run a charge-back. No questions asked. It's not the law that's the issue, it's the CC companies policies and they simply don't like pissed off customers not using their cards for fear of this type of thing. So, you tell them you didn't authorize it (which you didn't in any meaningful sense), and they'll credit you back. It'll cost the vendor, and if he has enough problems, the CC company will raise his rates, or even drop him. Believe me, on this one. Try it if you don't. Dispute any and all charges from this outfit. I'll betcha every one is credited back to you. By all means, however, DO NOT fail to pay any undisputed charge. Mark
