Without trying to sound smart...but what else would it be?....any information before it happens has to be a rumor.....it's whether the rumor gets proved true or false is the question...

No rate cut at 10:00 am, ES futures down a quick 8 points.
When is the next rumor? Traders need to know.

If Bernanke, who denied for MONTHS that there was any problem with liquidity, comes out of this meeting today and lowers the rate... he will no longer be a rookie - he will effectively be BENCHED...

Senate Banking Chief meets with Bernanke and PaulsonBuy the rumor, sell the news?
The data calendar is very light today (only the usual chain store sales data at
7:45 am/8:55 am) but a couple things to watch out for. First, Senate Banking
Committee Chairman Dodd will give a press conference at 11:00 after a closed-door
meeting with Ben Bernanke and Treasury Secretary Paulson. Also, Richmond Fed
President Lacker (non voter) speaks to a group of risk management professionals
and Q&A is scheduled, which could be interesting at 12:30 pm. Target and Staples
report 2Q earnings.

There will be no surprise rate cut before Sept. Bennie knows it's bad out there. He is saving the WMBD for last.
