Day trading Shorts and Hope Shorts At 20dma R, e.g. Qs, we have day trading shorters and short position shorters who are waiting for a pull back. Also LT shorters who believe that we have LT top at SPX 1550. 20dma is a major bull/bear line aside from 50/200 ma(s). Now, we have 5 days of trading up... therefore, it is natural to think that we will have a pull back. However, we had a huge short position looking for a crash on 8/17 followed by 8/20 black monday. The shorts are still waiting. At extreme market condition which we have seen, market often does not trade as usual ==> resolving market sentiment imbalance in short squeeze which "Trap" into a trend reversal. We can be 100% sure with hindsight.

today's 50% retrace to SPX 1463 was mentioned here as a specific bounce target.

Mark Arbeter is a good and well-known TA guy..his other comments in this article are of interest

After selling off into close in light volume, we now have positive divergences on 60m and daily price actions. Furthermore, market breadth is also showing positive divergence.

Markets closed at or near critical and pivotal LT supports.

Asian markets sold off except $SSEC and Euro markets are also negative at the moment.

However, with the positive divergences and post-climactic volume actions, a reversal is likely at this point.

I am hearing that big investors are buying as per media board case - refer to my post on COT below.

I kind of agree. The persisant bearishness in the polls means only 1 thing... they must capitulate. And so far bears are fighting this. And this relatively low volume can push things up for quite a while before it happens. Breadth has turned up for now, and overall not looking too bad.
