have you been offended when another guy with Ukranian name spoke "like dat"? I've been trying to clean up this board from "dat shet", but instead of some support from other members, my account was suspended for a couple of days. now I talk "like dat", and what? what's wrong with you? it has nothing to do with black-and-white stuff. regards,

Oh, you don't like when I talk "like dat"... Fine! I don't like when other people talk "like dat" too. I've been offended like you too. Here's a very simple solution. Let's talk English. That's it.

I did expect any other reaction... NOT this. I said many times that there're lots of nations on this board... bi-lingual, three-lingual, white, black, red ....whatever. Let's keep this site SIMPLE and CLEAR. I know how hard to understand other language. I can speak on four different, but non of them would be like Russian for me. For example, I feel stupid when I go to American parties because there're lot's of specific stuff non-Americans can't understand. Now I feel stupid because some guy thinks that I make fun on blacks. Da_Brutha is not always black. He could be slavic like me, or jew like my wife. Think about it. ;) Good luck,

Sure, we're different. American president is a really good person. And of course, he is not a murderer, except few hundred thousands far far away. But guess what! Russians really like so-called "murderer". I like him too. I used to hate everybody before him. That's in our "core" ... we hate power, we can't obey. But I really proud of him! Why? Because he is the first who doesn't listen what Russian should do. He is the first who does really good stuff for Russia. I wish yours will do the same. ;)

what is this? why are people so paranoid? does the thought police now say that no-one can make fun of poor language usage - whomever uses the language poorly? especially as the "perpetrator" speaks english as a second language, and therefore should be given even more leeway with "mistakes" of this kind? there was a famous play - concerning a Henry Higgins written by B. Shaw - that does just this - it has becom a classic, a box office sellout, a movie classic and top grosser, and is now being revived on Broadway. London East Enders did not get offended, they actually went to see it. when I grew up in a very integrated (and immigrant) part of Brooklyn, we all mimicked and or made fun of every sort of ethnic accent, etc, especially those of our own, we all had fun - and we all were able to switch from dialect to proper english when we chose - but we were aware of the good natured silliness of it all, with no hard feelings on any side. A more innocent time, I suppose. that you are offended reflects more on your own limitations than on the failings of the person who wrote this inoccuous jest. JMO, but I am saddened by the censure, lack of graciousness and negative attitude expressed. klh

This thread is about as helpful as a good enema I suppose. B) We've gone from calling each other racists to debating whose president is the real butcher. But I think Russia now has a Tzar or a dictator who will not give up power, just change his title. America shall continue to have elected presidents. Democracy just wasn't for Russia. I think that makes the Russian stock market more risky. The Russian company you own stock in today could be absorbed by the Russian state (or city as has been done) tomorrow. It seems to me that China has shown the way for the old-line socialist dictatorships if they want to be really prosperous. If America keeps raising taxes and spending (as it continues to do) and pushing toward increased socialism we may one day have our own crap economy and have to look to China for an example of free markets and how they can create wealth! Esp if China keeps moving away from socialism and we keep running toward it. Turning point in the markets? Turmoil? Is that what we get from this? Change is in the air and people are irritated?
In the end we retain from our studies only that which we practically apply.
