There was no pet forum board - so I'm posting this under health :-)

Okay, I was given this pet rabbit (long story) ... he was adorable, sweet, mellow and ohhhhhh soooo soft. I knew he wasn't neutered, but it didn't seem a problem ... THEN he started humping my leg ... and doing other undesirable actions (like spraying urine ... hey, it's a sign of courting affection ... gross !) :) So, I realized that I'll have to get him neutered. In the meantime I was also given another spayed FEMALE rabbit ... as they are supposedly much happier in pairs (AFTER neutered etc) .... well, they have been in separate cages, but my first rabbit is going CRAZY ... whenever he is let out, he runs around like a complete and utter maniac.

All I can say is - SEX is a powerful driving force ... be ye rabbit or human (at least rabbits don't shoot their spouses - although they have been known to eat their young - mmmmm, now that's a newspaper headline !)

I almost don't want to get him neutered ... because he'll probably turn into a passive, fat lump ... but, c'est la vie, mon ami. ;)

Fascinating to watch those natural furry hormones make the poor ball of fluff turn into a crazed animal.

But, I might still end up with 2 reasonably content (if not passionately wild) bunnies.

Best, C.C. B) :bear:

I had a cute little parakeet.
He would sit on my shoulder and wisper "pretty boy".
He hit puberty and would bite my ear off if I would let him.

I should'a figured he was gay by the pretty feathers.
"Pretty Boy" my @ss!

Are you serious about the bird and puberty thing? Did he really turn nasty? Mine has not turned nasty, just WILD and super active ... he's hilarious to watch because he runs around like a demon. The other rabbit is now in a separate room and you have to go down a long hallway and the kitchen to get there ... he used to be terrified and timid of those rooms .... now, you let him out and he makes a mad dash to try and get the other rabbit .... fascinating! Thursday is D-day for that bunny (Neuter-ville - no more equipment :P )

Yeah, that sweet little bird did change personalities over time. When I got him, I clipped the feathers on one wing so he couldn't fly. He would jump onto the floor, then walk up my leg and finally sit on my shoulder. He really wanted contact. Eventually he became quite a tame, friendly little fellow. He learned to say "Pretty Boy" "Hello" and could wolf whistle. I let his wings grow out and he would fly around our sun room. When you would set down he would fly over and land on your shoulder. But then he begin to bite. Really hard. One night, I opened the door and in the darkness he flew towards a street lamp outside. Never saw him again. :(

Parrot Imitates Fire Alarm, Saves Family
Parrot Helps Save a Man and His Son From House Fire by Mocking Smoke Alarm, Bird's Owner Says
A noisy parrot that likes to imitate sounds helped save a man and his son from a house fire by mocking a smoke alarm, the bird's owner says.

Shannon Conwell, 33, said he and his 9-year-old son fell asleep on the couch while watching a movie. They awoke about 3 a.m. Friday to find their home on fire after hearing the family's Amazon parrot, Peanut, imitating a fire alarm.

"He was really screaming his head off," Conwell said.

The smoke alarm had activated, but it was the bird's call that caught Conwell's attention.

"I grabbed my son and my bird, and got out of the house," he said.

The fire destroyed the home's dining room, kitchen and bedroom, Muncie fire officials said. It remains under investigation.

Rabbit Cocoa lowered his ears and gave me a forlorn look this morning, as I dropped him off to be neutered ... he knows something is up (or should I say down  )
