The 11 year nominal trailing return for the SP 500 without dividends is about zero as of right now. Again, I think this has tremendous ramifications for insurance companies, pensions, retirement savings and about everything else relating to investments. If you factor in inflation there are now significant issues here. I think the baby boomers are in some trouble. You don't want to retire near the middle to end of a secular bear market. This is going to create tremendous stress in the investment "community". I think it's already making waves with insurance companies and pensions. I realize I posted this before and it's really not related to today's historic events but it's kind of a forest post instead of a tree post.
