Marlborough cop stole cash
MARLBOROUGH —
Feb 18, 2012
A veteran city detective stole more than $8,000 in seized money from the police station, then avoided prosecution in a confession deal while cashing out his retirement account, Channel 7 reported yesterday.

While the money was returned under the arrangement, Detective Derek Johnson kept the $112,000 in his retirement account, Channel 7 reported. A defense lawyer, meanwhile, has raised the prospect that several pending criminal cases could hit major snags because monetary evidence has been compromised and the chain-of-custody ruined.

“Show me the money, show the jury the money the officers allegedly found in my client’s home,” attorney Samuel Goldberg told Channel 7. “And they can’t now.”

Johnson and Marlborough Police Chief Mark Leonard could not be reached by the Daily News last night. But the TV station found that Johnson was in charge of the evidence room, and that documents from the Middlesex County District Attorney’s office record him admitting to stealing more than $8,000 collected in 10 drug and larceny cases.

Ex-Cop Admits Robbing Bank To Get Health Benefits In Federal Prison...

As a kid I loved MAD Magazine.
One of my favorite stories was about criminals committing crimes to GET INTO PRISON.
It was a spoof on the new "Country Club" prisons being built to coddle former politicians and other white collar crooks.

I am beginning to wonder who has more rights, freedoms and benefits: the criminals or the citizens.

The IV Amendment protects us against unlawful search and seizure.
A few Americans were shocked recently when a state Supreme Court ruled that police do not need a reason or a warrant to unlawfully break into a private home.

In response...
Indiana First State to Allow Citizens to Shoot Law Enforcement Officers
Police officers in Indiana are upset over a new law allowing residents to use deadly force against public servants, including law enforcement officers, who unlawfully enter their homes. It was signed by Republican Governor Mitch Daniels in March.

The first of its kind in the United States, the law was adopted after the state Supreme Court went too far in one of its rulings last year, according to supporters. The case in question involved a man who assaulted an officer during a domestic violence call. The court ruled that there was “no right to reasonably resist unlawful entry by police officers.”

SECTION 1. IC 35-41-3-2, AS AMENDED BY P.L.189-2006, SECTION 1, IS AMENDED TO READ AS FOLLOWS [EFFECTIVE UPON PASSAGE]: Sec. 2. (a) In enacting this section, the general assembly finds and declares that it is the policy of this state to recognize the unique character of a citizen's home and to ensure that a citizen feels secure in his or her own home against unlawful intrusion by another individual or a public servant. By reaffirming the long standing right of a citizen to protect his or her home against unlawful intrusion, however, the general assembly does not intend to diminish in any way the other robust self defense rights that citizens of this state have always enjoyed. Accordingly, the general assembly also finds and declares that it is the policy of this state that people have a right to defend themselves and third parties from physical harm and crime. The purpose of this section is to provide the citizens of this state with a lawful means of carrying out this policy.

Being a believer in law and order, it seems that police corruption and abuse by the police is one of the worst breaches of the legal system.

Therefore, this ain't a bad idea:

ACLU Launches Smartphone App To Secretly Record Police Stops...
Jersey’s branch of the American Civil Liberties Union has taken its mission of policing the police to smartphones.

The ACLU has released an app called “Police Tape” that lets users secretly record police stops.

The ACLU’s Alexander Shalom said the app is easy to use.

“There’s really only three buttons that the user needs to deal with,” Shalom said. “There’s a know your rights button that educates the citizen about their rights when encountering police on the street, in a car, in their home or when they’re going to be placed under arrest, and there’s a button to record audio and a button to record video.”

Naked man repeatedly shot with pepper balls settles suit with city for $25,000
According to Payne’s March order in the case, a hotel manager told police that a naked, “extremely intoxicated” man named Richard Smith was still in a hotel room two hours after check-out time.
Sgt. Christopher Witt repeatedly kept shooting Smith with pepper balls just for the fun of it.
Officer Tina Kennemer, who was at the scene allegedly made no effort to stop Witt.
Smith says he suffered more than 70 “pepper ball shots,” although City of Tulsa Litigation Division Manager Gerald Bender said it appeared that he sustained 30 to 40 welts from the pepper-ball launcher.
Smolen said Thursday that even now Smith has “neurosensory issues” that cause him to be especially sensitive to pain.
The $25,000 for the settlement will come from the city’s sinking fund, according to Thursday’s order.
Smith received a citation for the municipal misdemeanor offense of trespassing but was not prosecuted, according to the complaint.

I have heard about the Mexican police stealing from tourists.
Here's the twist on that:
Tulsa police officer accused of taking money from Hispanic drivers

Officer Blades told the man to get out of his car, step to the back of the vehicle and leave his wallet inside, according to the document.
The arrest report says Blades went to the cab of the vehicle, returned to where the man was standing and told the man he could leave. According to the document, the man checked his wallet after Blades left and discovered that six “documented” $100 bills were missing from it.
“Surveillance officers continued to observe Marvin Blades Jr. until Blades could be arrested in a safe manner,” the document says.

The department is still dealing with the stigma of a federal corruption probe that cast an unwanted spotlight on TPD.
That investigation of Tulsa police officers and a federal agent began as early as 2008 and resulted in charges against six current or former Tulsa police officers and a federal agent, as well as accusations of criminal behavior against five unindicted officers.
At least 46 people have been freed from prison or had their cases modified because of civil rights violations or potential problems with their cases.
Additionally, at least 14 lawsuits have been filed against the city of Tulsa and individual police officers as a result of the police corruption investigation.

Brutal LAPD arrest caught on video; Department investigating cops seen bodyslamming nurse twice during cell phone traffic stop
The taco joint's surveillance video appears to show the officers, both men, yanking the 5-foot-4 inch registered nurse from the open driver's seat and then slamming her on the ground to cuff her.
The duo then yank Jordan to her feet and bring her to the patrol car, where they pat her down.
Moments later, one of the cops slams the married mom to the ground a second time.
After placing her in the cruiser's backseat, the two appear to share a celebratory fist-pound.

Maybe this town should be renamed Peed-Mont.

Piedmont Boy, 3, Gets $2,500 Ticket For Urinating In His Front Yard

"Dillan pulled down his pants to pee outside, I guess and the cop pulled up and asked for my license and told me he was going to give me a ticket for public urination," said the boy's mother, Ashley Warden.
"I said really, he is three years old"
But they point out the street is actually quite rural, yet the Wardens who live on two and half acres say this one officer parks at the end of their street daily. So they asked why.
"It's a public street and he wants to, so he can," Jennifer Warden said.

Similar to Pink Floyd's Wall, our freedom is being taken away Brick by Brick until there is an impenetrable Wall with no way to escape Statist tyranny.
It is probably to late for us.
