OK the story about the treasury being robbed is a joke.
The part about fake money in the Treasury is real. ;)

But I found this story interesting.
Some jewelry stores have began showing fake jewelry in display cases.
It makes perfect sense since gold plated metal and CZ's are virtually indistinguishable from the real thing to most buyers... and clowns.

DENVER:
Robbers dressed as clowns get pasty surprise after cleaning out jewelry store...

The robbers emptied the jewelry cases into plastic garbage bags and then fled, heading south across the Nordstrom Rack parking lot.
But the joke may be on the clowns.
Sonny’s Rocks Jewelry Store, like most jewelry stores, no longer displays real jewelry, a change the store made when the price of precious metals and gems started going up a few years ago.
The clowns’ take?
They didn’t get any real diamonds. Instead, they made off with garbage bags of fake gold, platinum and cubic zirconium.
“It's not real,” Allen says. “It's totally worthless."

That last part reminded me of the US Treasury.

PS: I had my first panic attack when I was making and selling jewelry and read a trade magazine about a jewelry store robbery gone bad.
I quit the biz shortly after that.
It wasn't worth it to me.
