The British press has reported that Arctic ice has increased 43% and is thicker over the past two years, Al Gore said the ice would all be gone by now.

For that tiny sliver of climate skeptics who still don't get it -

http://www.slate.com...xaggerated.html

No, You Can’t Claim Arctic Ice Is “Recovering”

Sigh. Here we go again.

The Daily Mail and Mail Online are to scientific accuracy what a sledgehammer is to an egg. Especially when it comes to global warming.

David Rose is oftentimes the wielder of that sledgehammer. He’s written error-laden climate articles in the past, like saying that global warming has stopped (no, it hasn’t), that the world is cooling (no, it really really isn’t), and that the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change had to hold a crisis meeting because Rose’s articles have caused such a fuss (that meeting never happened, which Rose had been told several times, but he still made the claim). Other examples abound.

This time, in Sunday’s Mail Online he writes that Arctic sea ice, which hit a major record low in 2012, “has expanded for the second year in succession.”

This claim is a humdinger, and typical denial double-speak. It’s technically true, but also really wrong. It’s like examining someone who has a 106° fever and saying it’s really made their skin glow. But what do you expect from an article that has this breathless headline:

Myth of arctic meltdown: Stunning satellite images show summer ice cap is thicker and covers 1.7million square kilometres MORE than 2 years ago...despite Al Gore's prediction it would be ICE-FREE by now

“Myth of arctic meltdown” is enough to tell you just how slanted and wrong the conclusions of this article will be … and the inclusion of Al Gore’s name brings it home. Mentioning Gore is at best a distraction, red meat to the deniers. Gore isn’t a climate scientist, and as we well know actual climate scientists overwhelmingly agree that the world is warming. One of the outcomes of this is the decline of Arctic sea ice.

Briefly: Arctic sea ice reaches a minimum in late September every year. The overall trend for the amount of ice at that time is decreasing; in other words, there is less ice all the time. Some years there is more than others, some less. But the trend is down, down, down.

In 2012, a mix of unusual causes created conditions where the minimum reached a record low, far below normal. The next year, in 2013, the ice didn’t reach quite so low a minimum extent, and this year looks very much the same as 2013. But saying the ice is “recovering” is, to put it delicately, what comes out the south end of a north-facing bull. You can’t compare two years with a record low the year before that was due to unusual circumstances; you have to look at the average over time.

Of course, if you do, your claims that global warming isn’t real melt away.

Pretty simple for most people, but for the die-hards of the most extremist skeptics, even the BEST study couldn't move them (see "ideological blindness").

For everyone else, we've moved onto whether the proven global warming is anthropogenic or not. Currently, my most favorite theory on that from the skeptics is its due to a lack of dino-farts.

Climate has been changing since day one. So is there really anyone who is a "climate change skeptic"? That's the usual straw man argument used to avoid a factual discussion. Facts: Climate has been changing since day one. Little is known for certain of the reasons, cycles, influences. The last ice age ended with a warming period called the Medieval Warm Period. The Little Ice Age ended with a warming period, which we are in now. (The Little Ice Age ended in the latter half of the nineteenth century or early in the twentieth century.) Climate has been changing since day one. Period. Humans missed most of the really big climate changes. (So it's kind of difficult to blame humans, unless it's your religious dogma or neurotic obsession or are void of historical observation.) Maybe warm is better. I'd hate to live in Canada back when it was covered in ICE.

Well, at least your arguing the issue now (i.e., the CAUSE of the PROVEN global warming).

Does this mean you're going to stop with the weather reports?

... findings of Richard Muller, a Berkeley physicist and self-proclaimed climate skeptic, Berkeley Earth Surface Temperature (BEST) effort that clearly shows the climate has been warming -

"Consensus scientists" have given up pretending the earth is still warming.

List of excuses for ‘the pause’ in global warming is now up to 52, with links

An updated list of at least 52 excuses for the 18-26 year statistically significant ‘pause’ in global warming, including recent scientific papers, media quotes, blogs, and related debunkings:

1) Low solar activity

2) Oceans ate the global warming [debunked] [debunked] [debunked]

3) Chinese coal use [debunked]

4) Montreal Protocol

5) What ‘pause’? [debunked] [debunked] [debunked] [debunked]

6) Volcanic aerosols [debunked]

7) Stratospheric Water Vapor

8) Faster Pacific trade winds [debunked]

9) Stadium Waves

10) ‘Coincidence!’

11) Pine aerosols

etc, etc. etc

Research shows surprise global warming ‘hiatus’ could have been forecast

[The Guardian] Australian and US climate experts say with new ocean-based modelling tools, the early 2000s warming slowdown was foreseeable.

Australian and US researchers have shown that the slowdown in the rate of global warming in the early 2000s, known as a so-called “global warming hiatus”, could have been predicted if today’s tools for decade-by-decade climate forecasting had been available in the 1990s.

Does this mean you're going to stop with the weather reports?

Those "Weather Reports" were constantly used by Al Gore et Al to "prove" global warming...until it stopped warming and every Global Warming crisis conference by Al Gore was cancelled due to record cold "weather".

Then the words were changed to to Climate Change
to protect the guilty scam artists.

My "weather reports" are a poke in the eye to your Chicken Little and Man-Pig-Bear.

But out of consideration for your feelings, I will not even mention tomorrow's forecast record cold, while at the same time we supposedly are seeing record high levels of the dreaded CO2 (loved by all plants).

Al Gore after Katrina:… the science is extremely clear now, that warmer oceans make the average hurricane stronger, not only makes the winds stronger, but dramatically increases the moisture from the oceans evaporating into the storm – thus magnifying its destructive power – makes the duration, as well as the intensity of the hurricane, stronger.

OOPS! He was wrong. The computer models were wrong, The data was fudged. The melting icebergs were styrofoam.
The man-bear-pig was exposed for the fraud that he is. Even the folks at South Park get it.

During the years since Hurricane Katrina, global tropical cyclone frequency and energy have decreased dramatically, and are currently at near-historical record lows. According to a new peer-reviewed research paper accepted to be published, only 69 tropical storms were observed globally during 2010, the fewest in almost 40-years of reliable records.
Furthermore, when each storm’s intensity and duration were taken into account, the total global tropical cyclone accumulated energy (ACE) was found to have fallen by half to the lowest level since 1977.

Or better yet: "Reality Deniers"

'Global Warming' Advocates "Reality Deniers" Plan March Amid Record Lows...

Called the “largest climate march in history” by organizers, the “People’s Climate March” will occur on Sept. 21st, a few days before the United Nations will attempt to draft a “global warming” treaty on the same level as the controversial Kyoto Protocol.
“The Secretary-General has asked leaders to announce significant and substantial initiatives to help move the world toward a path that will limit global warming,” states a U.N. press release.
Yet, in contrast to that rhetoric, ice cold temperatures are shattering records across the U.S. and Antarctica’s sea ice is expanding at a record pace.
“Chicago seemingly switched from summer to fall overnight, and by mid-day the area set a record low for high temps.”
Snow blanketed Denver, Colo., yesterday and so far this summer, seven states have experienced snow on the ground.

Don't you think its a tad bit hypocritical to do exactly (over and over again) what you complain that Al Gore does?
