REPORT: Global warming stopped 16 years ago...

Global warming stopped 16 years ago, reveals Met Office report quietly released.
The new data, compiled from more than 3,000 measuring points on land and sea, was issued quietly on the internet, without any media fanfare, and, until today, it has not been reported.

[1] The figures reveal that from the beginning of 1997 until August 2012 there was no discernible rise in aggregate global temperatures

[2]This means that the 'pause' in global warming has now lasted for about the same time as the previous period when temperatures rose, 1980 to 1996.

The world stopped getting warmer almost 16 years ago, according to new data released last week.
The figures, which have triggered debate among climate scientists, reveal that from the beginning of 1997 until August 2012, there was no discernible rise in aggregate global temperatures.
This means that the 'plateau' or 'pause' in global warming has now lasted for about the same time as the previous period when temperatures rose, 1980 to 1996. Before that, temperatures had been stable or declining for about 40 years.

…RECORD LOW TEMPERATURE SET AT TULSA OKLAHOMA…

THE LOW TEMPERATURE IN TULSA, OKLAHOMA THIS MORNING DROPPED DOWN TO 32 DEGREES.

Roger

Nice except the last decade was the hottest on record.

Like markets trend lines don't go straight.

I note you took a short time frame.

The nonsense you preach has 3% in agreement amongst those that study climate.

Doesn't mean you are wrong but I prefer to side with those that know what they are talking about.

Roger Having a record low or high is neither here nor there. Part of climate change is wild swings in weather NOT always higher temps. Expect more droughts and more floods and more extreme highs and more extreme lows. These are what was forecasted.

A lot of people have been fooled badly. They have taken true but trivial statements as implying quite the opposite of what they do.

The official climate authorities in America, Britain and Australia constantly stress how hot recent years have been. You hear of some recent year being
"the fifth hottest on record", "the third highest on record" etc. etc.

But those statements do not mention BY HOW MUCH the years differ from one another. And in fact the years nearly all differ by ONLY HUNDREDTHS
of one degree, an almost unimaginably tiny amount.

The CRU graph:

Note that it is calibrated in tenths of a degree Celsius and that even that tiny amount of warming started long before the late 20th century. The whole graph would be a horizontal line if it were calibrated in whole degrees -- thus showing ZERO warming

What is the black line on that chart in the link, car sales? I see it really got moving to the upside with the advent of the Ford Model-T.

"Hottest temperature on record" (by a hundredth of a degree) reminds me of companies that announce "beating quarterly earnings estimates" (by a penny) ---

Oops. Huge drought occurring. Huge storm attacks. Just coincidence that this is what was forecast. And the more this happens the more the sceptics will say its just normal. Keep the blinkers on.

Ocean levels have been rising an inch per decade. This is likely to increase to as much as 5 inches per decade. Let's see how NY copes! Yes, I know, the creationists will call it cyclical. Only when flooding becomes regular will anything be done. Of course the denialists will still deny.

SUN UNLEASHES 'MONSTER ERUPTION'...

The sun is currently in the middle of an active phase of its 11-year solar weather cycle. The current cycle is called Solar Cycle 24 and is expected to peak in 2013.
