The administration thankfully stepped up and declared that the the Emperor Penguin was an endangered species. The evidence is overwhelming. In 2012 the population was 595K. In 2022 the population is 650K. Amazingly, as with polar bears the bird's population increased as anthropogenic CO2 has brought the earth to the brink of runaway global warming and the next 10ppm of anthropogenic atmospheric CO2 will be the tipping point. How long can the birds and bears keep adapting to the brutal increase in T and extreme weather caused by the burning of fossil fuels? What does it take to get everybody to take the AGW hypothesis seriously and act accordingly?

Any news report reciting “scientists say” loses credibility from the get-go. Scientists don’t speak with one voice. To make that plural “scientists” technically accurate, only two scientists need agree. Good journalists don’t cite vague collectives as sources, but named, credentialled professionals who can back their claims with data. ...

In the past ten years, we’ve suffered no fewer than four international social manias: the transgender craze, #MeToo, Covid lockdowns, and post-Floydian Black Lives Matter. Having accelerated from scientific hypothesis to fever dream, climate change apocalypticism now displays all the markers of another mania. ...

We’re contriving hugely consequential policies in a state of hysteria. Maybe if we don’t stop burning gas, oil and coal humanity is doomed, but in any case we need to calm down, as well as to engage productively with sceptical perspectives. By 2030, will our electrical grids support the number of electric vehicles for which the US and UK governments are currently legislating? No? Back to the drawing board, then. These are highly technical questions, and wrong answers at scale could bring on catastrophe of a different kind. In the service of getting a grip, not blaming every wildfire, cloudburst, and hailstorm in the world on “climate change” would be a start.

Germans appear to be reaching the tipping point with respect to Green New Deal type policies instituted to stave off CAGW (catastrophic anthropogenic global warming) by declaring war on fossil fuels.  Two German scientists point to the problem of "scientific corruption and waste of taxes".  To one degree or another this applies to many countries, including the U.S.

These panic-mongers are rewarded with benevolence, continued employment and career advancement for their fear exaggerations and brazen lies designed by advertising strategists at PIK Potsdam. We normal taxpayers should pay everything out of a guilty conscience to prevent the alleged end of the world climate. They want to largely take away the prosperity we have acquired through work. But the poor of the world will get nothing from it, because the money flows exclusively into the opened pockets of the followers of this modern indulgence trade, down to the godparents and best man of politicians. Really serious experts are sidelined and disparaged, such as the Nobel Prize winner Professor Clauser ( here )or they are not mentioned at all in the German media.

 

It's about time that this spook finally came to an end, especially in Germany. We need an uprising of decent people against this fraudulent business model of supposedly saving the climate. Nature and environmental protection must finally be placed at the center of political action again. The fact that Germany becomes a steppe in hot summers is a man-made environmental sin that could be counteracted with our proposals against summer dry periods, see here .

 

But by no means do you want to curb the summer warming that takes place during the day, that would endanger the business model of climate panic through CO 2 .

Why I Left Out the Full Truth about Climate Change:  To Get My Paper Published

I just got published in Nature because I stuck to a narrative I knew the editors would like.

That’s not the way science should work.
Why does the press focus so intently on climate change as the root cause?

For the same reasons I just did in an academic paper about wildfires in Nature, one of the world’s most prestigious journals:

It fits a simple storyline that rewards the person telling it.

1. The first thing the astute climate researcher knows is that his or her work should support the mainstream narrative.

2. The authors should ignore—or at least downplay—practical actions that can counter the impact of climate change. If deaths due to extreme heat are decreasing and crop yields are increasing, then it stands to reason that we can overcome some major negative effects of climate change.

3. Be sure to focus on metrics that will generate the most eye-popping numbers.

 

Why is this happening?

It starts with the fact that a researcher’s career depends on his or her work being cited widely and perceived as important. This triggers the self-reinforcing feedback loops of name recognition, funding, quality applications from aspiring PhD students and postdocs, and of course, accolades...there are close to six times more PhDs earned in the U.S. each year than there were in the early 1960s—it has become more difficult than ever to stand out from the crowd.

Why I Left Out the Full Truth about Climate Change:  To Get My Paper Published
 

 

This type of problem is much larger and more sinister than scientists/academicians "fudging" in order to get published/tenure.  It extends to governments who directly and indirectly through the media purposely distort the truth presumably for financial/political purposes.  A well known example is the IPCC report which leads off with a Summary for Policymakers followed by several Working Group reports.  The WG reports are written by scientists whereas the SPM is written or at least strongly influenced by government representatives and is the section read/reported by the public/media.  Here is an example from the latest report, AR6:

 

SPM - "Human influence has likely increased the chance of compound extreme events... [including] compound flooding in some locations.” 

 

While the scientists in WG1 wrote the opposite:

 

WG1 - "In summary there is low confidence in the human influence on the changes in high river flows on the global scale.”

 

There is also the fact that different working group reports might disagree which is to be expected in science. However, the SPM will pick and choose which one to highlight and the public/media is kept in the dark.

 

The IPCC is used by politicians to push a variety of policies, including the Green New Deal.  But to put this in perspective one only has to look at the IPCC Charter which directs ONLY considering human-induced climate change at though there are no other factors in play (e.g., solar, clouds, ocean currents, etc.) and that's what you get but made worse by purposeful distortions by governments/WEF/etc.

 

IPCC Charter - "The role of the IPCC is to assess on a comprehensive, objective, open and transparent basis the scientific, technical and socio-economic information relevant to understanding the scientific basis of risk of human-induced climate change, its potential impacts and options for adaptation and mitigation."

 

A number of renowned scientists have resigned from the IPCC working groups (and published their complaints without much effect) because of the above which, of course, can negatively impact the groups quality.
