Market hit by WHO which just issued a warning that Thursday's confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the world hit new high (not in the USA).  But that confirmed case number by PCR is misleading as the death numbers still remain in down trend.  This is not black death and so no need to lockdown again.  We should realize that the lockdown was a mistake and the pandemic could has been dealt with better measures such as just wear masks and washing hands.  Maybe just lockdown retirement homes instead of the economy  ...................

You  are absolutely correct. If you are a healthy adult worker, covid-19 is no worse than mild influenza episode or no symptoms at all. The percentage of healthy adults dying from covid-19 is laughably small. All that was necessary was to quarantine older folks and people with serious health issues such as diabetes, cancer, morbidly obese etc. There was no need to jack up unemployment from 3% to 13% and kill off millions of businesses for good.

Actually it is best to let the younger work force under age 60, to be exposed to the virus and acquire herd immunity instead of locking them up in a shutdown. Majority do not even show symptoms, pass it on to other healthy workers, and keep increasing immune population.

The biggest risk with covid-19 was it was brand new and different virus, so no one had immunity to it. The regular influenza which comes every year like clock work kills more people in the under age 60 healthy group than covid-19.

Extremely misleading comment though.  The CFR for COVID19 is clearly multiples higher than ordinary influenza.  Influenza simply had more exposures, hence more deaths so far.   And death isn't the only outcome.  There are quite a few unknowns with regard to permanent organ damage: lung/heart/kidneys.

Nonsense. Covid-19 is easier to avoid than influenza. I have done it since February. I was on a packed Carnival cruise ending on Fe b 29th, have been to grocery stores without a mask couple of times every week since the cruise, been to hospital every 3 weeks to accompany my wife for her cancer treatments and doctor's consult, I have been to the bank a few times, to the post office, to restaurants since Florida opened up, picked up food dozens of times from carry out before restaurants opened up, have spent time on beautiful beaches in Saint Augustine, filled gas many times in my car touching the dirtiest object in town, the gas pump handle, and shopped at Lowes and Home Depot. If I can avoid covid-19 at age 80, any one can. My only prevention is washing hands with soap before touching face.

You are confusing testing positive as a bad thing. You are conveniently omitting to state that majority testing positive are completely asymptomatic. That is multiple beneficial, those folks create anti-bodies and immunity and pass it on to more and more healthy people.

That is called herd immunity, which is the best way to fight a new virus. Dumbest thing to do is lock yourself up in the house and thus develop no immunity. New York governor was shocked why covid-19 was affecting home shut people worse than others.

So I have no doubt this covid-19 is a weak virus, and only reason it is more infectious than influenza is because it was brand new and none of us had any anti-bodies for it.

Statistically that's not true.   Majority of the recovered patients in Wuhan city did not have such permanent organ damages.  Depending on individual's genetics there may be a few will get the permanent organ damages.  When dealing with a pandemic we got to focus on the statistics, not on specific individual cases.

Putting asymptomatic numbers in perspective...

Less than half of those tested coronavirus positive are asymptomatic. And those asymptomatic can still show lung abnormalities under a CT scan.

CT scans conducted on 54 percent of 76 asymptomatic individuals on the Diamond Princess cruise ship, appear to show significant subclinical lung abnormalities raising the possibility of SARS-CoV-2 infection impacting lung function that might not be immediately apparent.

Some State prisons tested inmates before they have symptoms and statisticians might have incorrectly use those in their asymptomatic tally.

Why are you using the crowd on Diamond Princess to justify your POV? Have you taken any cruises? They are predominantly OLD, overweight people. That group of people SHOULD be quarantined and protected. Healthy people under age 60 have little to fear from any virus much less the weak covid-19 virus. H1N1 was more potent virus, it killed young and old and even healthy. Now that is a potent virus. covid-19 has been unable to infect me by simple procedure of never touching face with unwashed hands, but with caveat although I am 80 Y.O., I exercise on treadmill every day for 30 minutes set at 3 deg up moving at 22 minutes/mile.

I am just pointing out the fact that asymptomatic people can also be ill, just that they have no symptoms.

I am just pointing out the fact that asymptomatic people can also be ill, just that they have no symptoms.

So? Every disease can kill. People have died from a bad cold! Influenza visits us every year and kills 55,000 Americans on average.

H1N1 from Obama years was much more potent than covid-19 because H1N1 killed young and old.

2.5 MILLION Americans die EVERY year from various diseases.

So why are the media raising morbid fear of covid-19?

Like I said, I am 80, doing all normal activities, even a cruise on a fully sold out ship at end of February,

and this weak covid-19 virus did not get me. All I do is never touch face with unwashed hands.

I dont feel fear when I read these news articles. I gauge them and verify based on numbers and figures. Numbers are numbers, they can be extrapolated to see trends without fear. However, the interpretation of the numbers can cause fear.

In the current health crisis, numbers are obviously rapidly increasing. Personally, the rising case numbers do not interpret as great fear. It is the ICU and death numbers that are threatening.

UK was completely ignorant of COVID-19 until their prime minister got sick.
