......but it's also true that we usually build using concrete and steel bars while the mixed structures made up with H section of steel that are immersed in concrete, are not usual in our houses

earthquakes happen when the elastic energy stored in compressed plaques reaches the level that rocks are unable to substain and get broken............simply like that.

The vibration that arises from the rupture of rocks, propagates under the sinusoidal form of a mechanical wave. That is what we call earthquake and it's only due to how

the Earth is made..............a divided crust into plaques, floating over an inner fluid part. Nothing to do with anything standing above us all.

do you know why in the west we all have the same religion, with very little local variations that occurred along the centuries ? Because a roman emperor, Constantine, established

it as state religion in the whole roman empire. It was 2000 years ago. We cannot live forever under the rule of a roman emperor. Or, better, under the will of his mother who converted

him to her own religion.

.............which religion another roman emperor who lived much before had defined as ''a dangerous superstition''. He was Nero.......and they pretended to call him ''mad''.

I remember when at high school I was translating from latin and I found his phisical description as ''flavo capillo''........which means ''blond haired''. Two thousand

years later DNA analysis tells us that before becoming a melting pot, the core of Rome's DNA was linked to a population that had migrated from the eurasian steppe,

probably modern day Ukraine. Another reason to free it.

We got one the other night just as I was falling asleep.

I actually heard it seconds before the bed shook.

They can sure make one feel small...which we are.

on the 20th of May, 2012, a 5.9 degree earthquake, hit some provinces south of where I live. It occurred at 4.03 a.m. while everybody was sleeping in the deep night.

I woke up because my bed was trembling and it wasn't a nice sensation also considering that it went on for many seconds. 26 victims around the epicenter. It wasn't

the first I experienced and it won't be the last. For sure it was the most horrific.
