Ah, yes. RTC put the final spike in the eye of the S&L industry. How to make a bad situation worse.
BTW, very different context than what we have now. Both worse and better.

I've been watching the Sheriff's auction here in Tulsa.
27 pages currently.
4 homes are within 3 blocks of my father-in-laws house!
Sheriff's Auction list
Yet our unemployment is very low with even more jobs coming for American Airlines and Whirlpool.

It is called saturation. Even if economy is doing well, people are saturated with debt and can't take any more.
Now, the reversal of course will take the economy down. Debt deflation will lead economy in this cycle, because housing inflation led on the upside.
It is not the doing that is difficult, but the knowing
