the majority of the population don't think

That sums it up rather well.

They also don't have any idea what they're talking about.

Miserable consumer confidence is usually a bullish sign.

You guys who think economic news is relevant to investing are barking up the wrong tree.

Interest rates, inflation, growth rates of earnings and trends all matter, somewhat, but gloom and doom is probably the best thing for the market, not a reason to be a bear.

Now, I didn't say if this has anything to do with investing or not. I said, that is why people are feeling bearish.

However I can make an argument that consumer confidence and business confidence are different from the pure stock market sentiment. Because it does affect wether or not consumers buy goods and businesses invest.
If consumers don't buy goods, guess what.. profits dissapear.

So its not exactly the sentiment that you measure.

The logic is sound, but look for the correlation. I don't recall seeing anything that would make you Bearish on the stock market due to poor consumer confidence. I think it's either a fade or noise.

Why there is so much hostility towards Don on this board...

Is it really because of his 'style'?

...or is it because so many here continue to fight the trend and lose--and he therefore becomes an object on which they vent their frustration?

Like it or not...Don has been right about this particular bull market. One day, things will reverse--but to date he has called this rally correctly and managed to nail some impressive entries and do so in size. His money management skills, vision, and patience have been impressive.

So...to you vocal few who think it is acceptable to attack a guy as a vehicle to assuage your own failures--I ask you; is it really him 'snorting' ...or rather is it really your own failure that is driving the hatred and vitriol?

Thanks Don for sharing here. most appreciate your thoughts and views.

Don't worry, Cheef's not goin' anywhere. Where else -- outside of a high school cafeteria -- can someone so ill-mannered and inarticulate hold sway over a coterie of dim-witted groupies with endless sneering and braggadocio?

da cheif may be cocky at times...lots of times :D but he is definitely not inarticulate, he says exactly what he means, when the rubber hits the road he is sharp as a tack, you have to be pretty confident to use slang and still be understood. I doubt he stays away...just as a bee to the honey.
