I saw this funny high school kid, Bill Hader, perform locally in a talent show 10 years ago.
He did great impressions of Al Pacino, and did a hilarious Jim Carrey type of physical humor bit.
I thought he was funny but his goal seemed just a bit too high.
He was leaving immediately for L.A. to "make it big as a comedian".
But I figured he would get chewed up and spit out as so many have.
While performing at Second City in L.A., Megan Mullally (Karen form Will & Grace), another successful entertainer with Oklahoma roots, saw him and was impressed.
She promoted him to the Loren Michaels at SNL where he has appeared in 39 episodes since 2005.
He recently married UT film graduate Maggie Carey.
Now he's making movies with my favorites: Jack Black, Owen Wilson, Ben Stiller. You, Me and Dupree
Superbad opened #1 Friday, beating back #2 "Rush Hour 2" and #3 "The Bourne Ultimatum"
