Jay Leno had this video tonight of a Pit Bull attacking a police car.
It reminded my of an incident recently when my wife was almost attacked by a pit bull at a friend's house.
Thankfully she was able to get back in our car and shut the door.
However as she drove off the dog repeatedly lunged at the car's tires, actually spinning over with them.
The back bumper cover has huge gouges which could have easily been my wife's arms and legs.

In the video, you can see the tenaciousness or "gameness" as mentioned in the post just above, as the dog does not stop the attack even after the bumper is ripped off!

This cop is attacked but the city does nothing.

RD - that dog didnt even look like a pit bull and it looked like he was just playing, not attacking. I agree that these dogs should only be given to qualified owners - and the ones that are bred for fighting give the breed a bad name - Stafforshire Terrier I have heard them called - I have been lucky and only knew 2 in NYC - just lovely animals, wonderful around children too. like people, bad upbringing and untreated mental this-ease can turn a nice boy into a serial murderer - with all the horrible people in the world i would rather get rid of those miscreants than a few dogs. in Berlin, it is the most popular dog type and they do not seem responsible for anymore attacks than any other - but they are not bred for fighting and it is against the law to carry firearms, so the mentality is different.
best,
klh

They are very popular dogs in Tulsa too, usually drug user type of owners or wanna-be gangsters.

"do not seem responsible for anymore attacks than any other"
It is not the number of attacks, it is the severity.
I have been snipped at many times by small dogs, they seldom bring blood, plus being smaller, they are harder to shoot.

I have two friends, both spent days in the hospital and weeks in rehab with BROKEN BONES from pit bull attacks.
Can't say that about any other breed.

Roy Horn asks: Why don't we allow tigers in the city, there are lots less tiger attacks than dog attacks?

Here Wally! Sit. Stay. Please stay.

Pot growers use alligator for security.

'Wally' described as a 'watchgator'.
Like Pit Bulls, these make nice pets too, and they really love children!

The sting was conducted Wednesday and included three business and twelve homes. $750,000 worth of marijuana and two alligators were among the items confiscated by police during the raids. The two alligators were used to guard the largest inventory of marijuana, according to Bouchard.

Woman from town of Truth or Consequences, NM, mauled to death by pit bulls...

Margaret Salcedo, 48, was walking alone when the dogs, which had escaped from a fenced yard at a private home, attacked her at an intersection on Sunday afternoon, Truth or Consequences Police Chief Patrick Gallagher said.
"The officer arrived on the scene in less than three minutes, but it must have felt like an eternity to the poor woman being attacked," Gallagher told Reuters.
One of the dogs charged the officer, who shot and injured the animal, police said. All four dogs ran off, and the officer administered first aid to the wounded woman.
Salcedo was bitten on all her extremities and lost a lot of blood, Gallagher said. She was taken to a hospital, where she died within hours, he said.
The dogs belonged to a couple named John and Maria Hardiman, who were not present during the attack, police said.

Remember: "It is not the number of attacks, it is the severity."

Felony animal cruelty for shooting the dog, but the dog's owner is never charged with a felony???

Woman who shot dog could be charged
McConnell said this was a "terrible day" that brought back memories of when her son's leg was chewed to the bone, causing him to be hospitalized.

After she made numerous calls to 911, the city's animal control office, Animal Aid, the Tulsa SPCA, an animal clinic and even a television station's news department, a police officer finally responded, she said.
McConnell said the officer told her that animal control officers would not come out but that she had the right to protect herself and her family, or she could let the dog go.

After killing the dog, she said, she immediately called 911 again, reported the shooting and requested officers. But after they arrived, the situation soured, she said, as "the officers were more concerned that I shot a firearm in the city limits than a vicious dog." McConnell later told the Tulsa World that the .22-caliber rifle she used was her only keepsake from her father, who died when she was 16.
On May 10, McConnell said, she became upset when she was notified that an animal cruelty complaint was being sent to the Tulsa County District Attorney's Office for a possible felony charge against her.

Reader Reply: "Shoot, shovel and shut up." I like it, look for bumper stickers soon.

"Very Tame" Corso Mastiff dog brutally kills 4 year-old Brooklyn boy
A "very tame" Mastiff killed a 4-year-old boy, who the dog knew as part of the family. This very tamed Cane Corso Matiff killed Jayelon Graham in Brooklyn on Friday night.
The dog attacked and bit this little boy multiple times around the head, neck and torso, causing massive bleeding for the four-year-old. This happened in the family’s apartment, while most of the family members were at home. The dog's vicious attack could not be stopped by family members or neighbors, as the dog would turn on anyone who tried to intervene. The boy was taken away from the dog by police and firefighters, who needed to use tools to do this.

"if encouraged to be aggressive this dog is known to attack very violently."

This Cane Corso Mastiff attacking Jayelin Graham while he was playing with his brothers, is an example of the dangerous side of this breed.

Will the parents have the other children taken away and face jail time?
Don't count on.
The dog was very tame.

College Park officials will enact a “dangerous dog” registry
College Park (WAOK) Saying it’s acting in the interest of public safety, College Park officials will enact a “dangerous dog” registry next month that some critics say is very close to canine profiling.

Residents owning dogs that have, without provocation, bitten someone during the last 12 years, will be required to register their pet with the city clerk’s office. Pit bull, Doberman, Rottweiler and German shepherd owners, will also have to register their dogs whether they have ever attacked someone or not.

Registration will cost a $25 annual fee. Those who fail to register their dogs will face fines and confiscation of their pets.

Lawrenceville, LaGrange and Floyd County have all enacted their own versions of the ordinance but College Park appears to be the first municipality in Georgia to require registration for breeds beyond pit bulls.

There have been several recent pit bull attacks in areas near College Park. Last August an infant was mauled and seriously injured by a pit bull in Clayton; two months later, a Jonesboro resident walking his dog was attacked by a neighbor’s pit bull.In addition, an animal control officer was bitten by a dog.

Critics are upset that no public hearings were held before the dog registry became law.

Personally, I'd like to see more "teeth" in the law.
After our neighbor's Pit Bull hospitalized another neighbor, they just said: "That's not our dog."
The victim sued them in court and won a judgement, but being previously convicted felons they had no bank account and owned nothing of value except the large crack cocaine rocks that the narc squad found in a raid sometime later.

No doubt now some heartless person will want to ban Wolf-Dog hybrids too.

Prosecutor Says Child “Partially Eaten” In Dog Attack

Police said the woman’s five-year-old physically disabled son, Kyle Holland, was attacked by the man’s pet wolf-dog hybrid, last July, while he slept.
“A good part of the child’s … I guess hip or flank area is the best way to describe it, was eaten,” said Prasad.

The boy’s mother, Deborah Lane Holland and her boyfriend Earl Dwayne Adkins are both charged with the child’s death. They also face separate charges in connection with more than a dozen marijuana plants that police said were being grown in Adkins’ basement.

Dogs Maul Woman on Long Island
Sep, 29, 2011

Two dogs attacked a 62-year-old woman who was exercising on a track at a senior center on Long Island Thursday morning, police said.

Nassau County cops responded to the area, near Brookside Junior High School in North Merrick, and found the dogs attacking the woman at the edge of a parking lot. The dogs, believed to be pit bulls, shifted their focus to the officers, who fired at them.

Medics rushed Sharma to the Nassau County Medical Center, police said. Her condition was not known, but a family member told Fox 5's Linda Schmidt that she was in the intensive care unit. She suffered bruises and lacerations to her head and face and serious, deep lacerations to her left arm and both legs, police said.

In a separate incident not far from this area, some dogs attacked an elderly man around 1 a.m. Authorities believe the same dogs were responsible.
