Government Command and Control "EQUALITY": EVERYONE IS EQUALLY POOR AND MISERABLE.
(Except the elites.)
Command and Control Health Care in the REAL WORLD:
Cuban doctors get a raise -- to $67 a month... AP
"I'm going to buy a toy"
At the high end, doctors with two specialties will see their salary go from the equivalent of $26 a month to $67, while an entry-level nurse will make $25, up from $13.
"It continues to be a salary that means very little because everything is very expensive," said Laura Vazquez, a 38-year-old pathologist.
"This is very good news that makes me tremendously happy. ... With my first paycheck
I'm going to buy a toy for my youngest grandson, who's 3," said Soraida Pina, a 62-year-old nurse. "This will open new doors for me."
That includes an estimated 30,000 in Venezuela, which sends Cuba some 92,000 barrels of oil a day, with a total value of about $3.2 billion a year.
Cuba has not made public how much it pays doctors on foreign missions, though it is believed to be a small fraction of what it collects from the nations where they serve.
Some doctors defect while abroad, though there are no official statistics on how many.

Cuba is laying plans to move to a single currency, a reform that many feel is one of the toughest challenges facing President Raul Castro as he tries to kick-start the Communist country's moribund economy.
The experts admit they are not sure how the government will proceed, nor how it will keep Castro's promise not to create further hardship for Cuba's 11.2 million inhabitants who worry that the little money they have will be devalued directly or through inflation when unification occurs.
Vidal believes the process of unification has begun with the devaluation of the official one peso to the dollar or CUC exchange rate.
He says the government is currently testing a 900 percent devaluation with a number of companies, trading on average 10 pesos for a CUC or dollar.
(So in reality, maybe the doctors are not actually going to see a raise in buying power.
Maybe it's just a bribe to tempt them to not defect to other countries.)
