The subject is complex and bits of data taken out of context are bandied about to make the counter argument. However, if you study all of the data is is not even close. There is warming and it will be catastrophic. There has been no cooling trend that mattered. The USA cooled in terms of surface temperatures while the global heat content increased.

The ocean warming and lower tropospheric warming is stunning -

Hansen has a new model coming out that has warm water melt folding back under the Antarctica sea ice that will both greatly accelerate and increase coastal inundation if correct -

- but try as you might to talk some sense into them, I'm sure even after NYC, Miami, LA, etc. are drowned, our amygdala-dominated folks will still be insisting it's just a big govt conspiracy to raise their taxes. Their self-centeredness knows no bounds. The only silver lining is that with today's and certainly tomorrow's info technology, there grandkids will know what the did.

a new model

Why not use actual satellite data rather than models based on "adjusted" reports?
Or at least use "unadjusted" data from pristine locations?

In essence, NOAA chose locations so they don't need to be adjusted for "biases" in the temperature record.
Data from America's most advanced climate monitoring system shows the U.S. has undergone a cooling trend over the last decade, despite recent claims by government scientists that warming has accelerated worldwide during that time.
The U.S. Climate Reference Network was developed by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) to provide "high-quality" climate data. The network consists of 114 stations across the U.S. in areas NOAA expects no development for the next 50 to 100 years.

Top scientists start to examine 'fiddled' global warming figures...

Remote Sensing Systems (RSS) and the University of Alabama (UAH), are based on a quite different method of measuring temperature data, by satellites. And these, as they have increasingly done in recent years, give a strikingly different picture. Neither shows last month as anything like the hottest March on record, any more than they showed 2014 as “the hottest year ever”.

Is this misdirection or lack of reading comprehension?

The model I referenced is about glacial ice melt and how those relatively warmer waters could flow back under ice sheets and accelerate further ice melt in a positive feedback. The model is one of many attempts underway to better understand the consequences of global warming not to reiterate the factof global warming.

In essence, NOAA chose locations ...

This issue of monitoring sites and adjustments was put aside a long time ago by the Berkeley Earth (BEST) Team (funded, ironically by the Koch brothers to prove the opposite of what eventually was determined). If you have conveniently forgotten that, here is former skeptic Dr. Muller (gee, an actual climate scientist!) to remind you -

The Conversion of a Climate-Change Skeptic

and here is a current member of the BEST Team commenting specifically on this more recent warmed-over horse pucky from the batty Christopher Booker article -

If you all are quoting Booker again, and he's talking "adjustments" again, that's clearly an indication of how desperate your collective amygdala have become.

You are aware that nearly ALL skeptic 'research' funding can be traced back to Big Fossil Fuels Industry?

Putting this cola research into a climate skeptic post is either hysterically ignorant or hypocritical.

"hysterically ignorant amygdala-dominated folks"
Have you ever noticed that the weaker the argument the greater the attempted insults?

"Super cold with a slew of snow for much of the country"

Maybe we should BAN the FARMER'S ALMANAC!
"The Old Farmer's Almanac predicts it will be super cold with a slew of snow for much of the country".
The weather predictions are based on a secret formula that founder Robert B. Thomas designed using solar cycles, climatology and meteorology.
(This was way back before the $1,500,000,000,000 Global Warming Industrial Complex was invented.)

Farmer's Almanac
"Look for above-normal snow and below-normal temperatures for much of New England; icy conditions in parts of the South; and frigid weather in the Midwest. The snowiest periods in the Pacific Northwest will be in mid-December, early to mid-January and mid- to late February, the almanac predicts.

Who really are the "hysterically ignorant amygdala-dominated folks" who believe the fabricated data, each time it is presented and then exposed?

Weather data at Washington's Reagan National Airport fiddled...

Our government is blowing hot air on global warming.
When confronted with an obviously broken weather station that was reading way too hot at Washington's Reagan National Airport, they replaced the faulty sensor — but refused to adjust the bad readings it had already taken. And when dealing with "the pause" in global surface temperatures that is in its 19th year, the agency threw away satellite-sensed sea-surface temperatures, substituting questionable data that showed no pause.

The National Weather Service said that there will be no corrections, despite the fact that the disparity suddenly began 19 months ago and varied little once it began. It said correcting for the error wouldn't be "scientifically defensible."
In July, by contrast, NOAA had no problem adjusting the global temperature history. In that case, the method they used guaranteed that a growing warming trend would substitute for "the pause." They reported in Science that
they had replaced the pause (which shows up in every analysis of satellite and weather balloon data) with a significant warming trend.

SCIENTISTS say:
“It is a scam that dwarfs all others that have come before.”
NOAANASA deceptive temp record claims...
The sad answer will be that it had nothing to do with the realities of science, technology or economics. The tragic blunder is based on satisfying political expedience for a privileged few, egged on by vested financial interests, and supported by largely uninformed activists granted the media platforms needed to sway public opinion.
