Any technical thoughts on mining indexes? PMs/copper/other base metals?

Any technical thoughts on mining indexes? PMs/copper/other base metals?
I've been posting weekly advance/decline data that includes the PM's for a couple of months now in the Market Analysis Area of Traders Talk.
Copper recently went to new all time highs last week and then promptly collapsed.
Overall, with higher interest rates being Kryptonite to precious metals, and the economy slowing due to bad judgement calls from politicians, there are probably better areas to look at on the long side as the metals are an accident just waiting to happen (at least technically).

My understanding (and correct me if I am wrong), but during the 70s-80s, it wasn't interest rates in nominal terms that were the kryptonite for commodities, but rather its when the nominal interest rates are significantly higher than real interest rates that they face a stiff headwind.

The $US's value against a basket of currencies could have little to do with the price of PMs though. Both were going up for a while.
